Ruth Keeling

After 16 years as a professional wardrobe mistress Ruth retrained to become an actor and subsequently trained at the Poor School in kings Cross and also at the London Repertory Company. Her theatre credits include ‘Her Naked Skin’ – National Theatre, ‘Hot Flush, The Musical’- UK Tour, ‘The Social Notwork’ – Camden Festival, ‘Death by Biscuit’ workshop. Sabrina Richmond is a performer and writer. She has performed in new writing in theatres across London such as Theatre Royal Haymarket & The Pleasance. Her first play An African in the snow – a migratory experience of loving & living in the cracks of identity across 5 countries has an upcoming short residency at The Pleasance theatre’s LABS programme. Her background in journalism drives her interest in issue-based storytelling. She undertook her actor training at an Acting for Film Conservatory, New York Film Academy, New York.

Jeannie graduated from East 15 Acting school is 2014 where she did the MA Acting course having previously studied Drama at Exeter University.  Since graduating all the projects she has been involved in have been new writing, including a play she co-wrote with her peers. She played the title role in an R&D of a new play ‘Ada’, about Ada Lovelace, at the Nottingham Playhouse earlier this year and recently played Eve in 5* reviewed ‘Adam & Eve’ with Broken Silence Theatre Company at the Jack Studio Theatre.

We have worked with Jeannie on the R&D of Mechanicals’ Macbeth, Mechanicals’ Macbeth at the Criterion New Writing Showcase, and also for our ‘Shakespeare Shaken-Up’ talk  where she performed a gorgeous version of ‘Ophelia In Souliloquy.’

Character Portraits: Snout and Bottom!

Snout – Tinker, Prop Maker, Player.

Snout loves Theatre. It has revolutionised how she perceives herself and the world and as such her zeal makes her into a bit of a theatre bore. However it has also meant her talent and graft has transformed her performance. Not so, her patience which is sorely tried with the others not taking it as seriously as she does.

She is cast in a variety of roles and for the Criterion Theatre is playing Lady Macbeth and Witch One.

Snout is played by Francesca Burgoyne.

Bottom – Weaver, Player, Director.

Bottom has been entirely swept up in the play and his character. He sees himself and his destiny in the role of Macbeth and this show is the chance of a lifetime to proclaim himself the Greatest of Actors. This is a big responsibility and he is determined that the play should succeed in the way he envisions – whatever the personal cost to his friends.

He is playing only Macbeth.

Bottom is played by Jackson Pentland.

A extract of Mechanicals’ Macbeth is being performed as part of the Criterion New Writing Showcase at the Criterion Theatre from 2pm, Monday 20th November.
